터널·지하공간의 재난방송 수신율 높인다

As various disasters and disasters occur frequently, the Korea Communications Commission will further expand support for the installation of disaster broadcasting relay facilities such as tunnels and subway stations this year to quickly deliver disaster information and protect people. The Framework Act on the Development of Broadcasting and Communications (Article 40-3) stipulates that owners and managers of roads, railroads, and subways must install relay facilities in areas with disabilities such as tunnels and underground spaces for smooth reception of disaster broadcasting.Expansion of support for the installation of disaster broadcasting relay facilities in roads, railway tunnels, and subway stationsAccording to the Korea Communications Commission’s full survey of FM radio and terrestrial multimedia broadcasting (terrestrial DMB) reception conditions for 4,960 tunnels nationwide last year, FM radio and terrestrial DMB were found to have poor reception in 3,380 tunnels (68.2% of the total) and 3,400 (68.4% of the total). The Korea Communications Commission supported the installation of 20 disaster broadcasting relay facilities last year, along with technical support consulting to resolve poor reception to Korea Expressway Corporation, and plans to expand it significantly this year to support more than 60 units. Chairman Kim Hong-il emphasized the need to improve the reception environment for disaster broadcasting and said, “We expect the project to support the installation of disaster broadcasting relay facilities to be a critical factor for effective disaster response.”
